Two episodes of a TV series based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 'The Lost World'.
very loosely based - in fact pure hokum. The plot isn't, really, just a
succession of set piece dramas with dinosaurs, woman-on-woman squabbles and the
occasional neck bite. I found it hard to convince myself that the whole thing
hadn't been made up as they went along. Despite the folk memories of the
local tribesmen (who want to marry the women, etc), and and several equally plausible
tales of why one of our lost heroes should start biting the others, the one explanation
never considered is good old fashioned rabies. After a while, the one that sticks
is the 'infection theory' - and the management is to 'poison' victims, to kill
the infection. In their anxiety to promote their disease theory, the writers failed
to notice a vampire being shot, turning to dust (as in Buffy).
